Barefoot Running

Today I went barefoot running at a soccer field. It was pretty awesome. It was a little cold out (2 degrees celsius) so my feet got a little cold.

It felt so amazing to have my toes be able to hit the ground unencumbered by an annoying shoe, feeling the grass in between them at every step. The skin under the heels of my feet got a little frozen near the end.

When I put my shoes back on to run home from the park it felt rather strange. Perhaps the strangeness was from the numb feeling from my heels. But I felt like I wanted to rip off the shoes and just run barefoot again. If only I could have ran home on a trail rather than needing to run on pavement.

  1. Barefoot is nice. I am not sure if you've ever tried the Vibram Five-Fingers? A good option for minimalist shoes.
