I've decided that one of my goals throughout the winter is to work on my "uphill mental stamina" By this I mean my ability to run up an inclined trail without needing to stop, or change to a power walk. Even though I am relatively fast at power walking, and I think this is helpful during the last half of trail races, I think I can do much better/faster in the long term if I find a way to force myself to just run non-stop up the hills. So for now, I am going to slow down, and force myself to run the whole way up.
Today, I did a fairly steady incline (1640 ft elev gain over 3.7 km) and ran the whole way except for 20 strides of walking in a section that is 19% incline.
