I was watching this video on Geoff Roes
http://wpblogs.runningtimes.com/blogs/performancepodcasts/2011/06/video-geoff-roes-slogging-to-the-top/
(copy and past that cuz I don't know how to link to a site)
He talked about how a successful race isn't about managing your high performance parts of the race where you are on your 'runners high', but rather to train in such a manner where you are mindful about the few hours in a race where you may be experiencing your 'runners low'. Doing this he says will have a greater impact on the overall success on your race.
Even though I totally understand what he means by the runners low, I hadn't ever put much thought about the low. Interesting thought to ponder.
