Racing while not yet recovered: so painful.

Sunday (the 2nd) I did the 54 km walk in the park ultra in kamloops. The course is an 18 km loop, 3 times, with a total elevation gain of 1,842 metres (6,043 feet). Just two weeks ago I had done 25.5 hours of running in my attempt at the fat dog.

As the title says, racing before you're recovered does not work well. This is the first time that I've done the same course in any race and not improved in the last three years, in fact it's the slowest of the three times I"ve done this race. I was in pain right from the start. At the end of the second lap I took my first ibuprofen, and the third lap was filled with ibuprofen. The drugs made me feel like I was flying, but going so slow.

But still, a super day with super people was had.

I was also quite distracted that day. Alzheimers was on my mind. I hope I die before I get it, and I hope the pattern of it being a women's disease in my genetic tree stays true for my generation. Awful disease.
