Afraid of my bike

I really, really, really like running downhill on the trails. Well, I really like running up the hills too, but running downhill is best and as much as I enjoy running up the hill, while I'm getting to the top my mind is thinking ahead to how much fun it will be to be tear down that hill as fast as I can, and when I get to the bottom sometimes I'm a little sad that it's over, kind of like riding a roller-coaster, you just want to go to the top and start over, and over, and over again.

When I'm on my road bike, and I'm going down a hill that is a certain steepness, I'm scared out of my mind. I actually feel anxious and worried about my safety that I will somehow lose control and the bike will like magically flip over or something. As silly as that sounds, and is rather unlikely, I'm very much afraid to go all out on the bike downhill. I totally ride the brakes. What to do, what to do.

Pretty much all the local trails are snow free now. Looking forward to playing on Mount Paul and Peter more often. Went hiking there today, had to hike and not wear the running clothes to feel like I shouldn't run.

  1. I totally relate. Am chicken-shit cycling downhill as well, which is weird because I love running fast down steep, technical descents.
